The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) certification verifies that companies involved in the diamond, gold, and other precious metals supply chains adhere to the highest standards of ethical, social, and environmental responsibility.
The certification process includes an independent third-party audit conducted against the RJC Code of Practices (CoP), which outlines responsible business practices covering human rights, labor conditions, environmental stewardship, and product integrity.
All commercial members of the RJC are required to obtain and maintain certification to ensure ongoing compliance and demonstrate their commitment to responsible and sustainable business operations across the jewelry supply chain.
Code of Practices (COP): A mandatory certification for all commercial members that assesses business ethics, human rights, labor practices, health and safety, and environmental performance. Chain-of-Custody (CoC): An optional certification that supports responsible sourcing of precious metals. It builds upon the COP standard and is a voluntary benefit for members.
A member conducts a self-assessment against the standards. An accredited third-party auditor conducts an audit to verify compliance. The auditor submits a report, and a certification decision is made.
